Diagnostic Imaging Glossary Here a glossary filled with some current words used in the medical imaging world. It will help students who want to study in that field to learn some basic words they might use every day when they start their career.   Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to volunteer abroad. If I could, I would go in a poor country with an organisation that gives free dental services to help poor people. I would volunteer for that because before I decided of going back to school, I've been working as a dental assistant for many years, so I could use my knowledge to help people in need. Volunteering abroad can be an amazing experience to grow, discover a different culture and to give help in an invaluable way. To be honest, I've had some opportunities to go volunteer, but I didn't go. Maybe, I was skeptical about the experience and scared that it might be tough to work in very difficult conditions, as the heat, the lack of material and to see poor people in their drastic situation. Also, before going on a volunteering trip you have to be ready to pay a certain amount to be able to go for it, and accept to not being paid in return. I hope one day I could have another occasion to volunteer abroad ...

 During the past few years I've had several OJT in many different work places. The most difficult place to be trained was at a gardening place, in the middle of the high season. That was a OJT, but more of a coaching while I've had to work with clients. The fact that it was the high season was sort of a drawback because the trainer had to be the boss and he was very busy during the training, so I've had to learn fast and even sometimes find out the right way to achieve things on my own. Plus, at that time I didn't know much about gardening so with all the ins-and-outs to learn as a trainee I've had to learn few basics of gardening to be able to answer correctly to the clients. After few weeks of coaching through the days I've managed to become better and better. 

First of all, I find very difficult to achieve all of my assignments on time. Sometimes it's because of the lack of time between my classes or when I come back home late at night. But, even if I don't always pull off straight A's I normally end up with good grades, and I am satisfied. For me, the hardest aspect of doing well at school it's to not procrastinate. At home, it is really easy to put aside my homework to do something else. Sometimes it's alright to do something that I love like watching a movie or to go outside for a moment, but it's important to go back to the task as soon as possible, otherwise I'll finish my homework on last minute. During class, I often take notes to help me to remind the important details of the classes and this helps me to complete my homework and to study trough the week.

 About  I'm a student at Collège Ahuntsic in the diagnostic imaging program. It is a technical program, which means we have five classes per semester, plus the regular classes like Philosophy,  English etc...The program is to prepare ourselves to work as a medical imaging technologist. It is a really interesting job where you can do a lot of different things in the radiology department of an hospital or a private centre like MIR, CT-Scan, X-rays and a lot more. This semester, one of the courses that I'll take is to learn how to take x-rays of the spine and the head.  The third year of the program is mostly an internship, added to one final class between this internship. Everyone wants to do it in a hospital close to their home, so it can get a little competitive because there are a lot of students and not so many hospital, but all of the classmates find a good place to do their internship.
